Dr. Joy Smith ED.D. LPC

Dr. Joy Smith holds licenses as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama and Tennessee and Licensed Psychologist in Tennessee.  She has over thirty-five years clinical experience in private practice and higher education academic settings. Her current focus with Pathlight Center is on emotional and spiritual life skills education.  

For ten years, Dr. Smith served as Clinical Director of one of the largest Christian counseling centers in the Maryville/Knoxville, Tennessee area. In addition to counseling services, the center focused on wellness education for adults and children.  For a number of years, she served as adjunct faculty for university psychology and education graduate programs where teaching responsibilities included training and supervision of graduate counseling and psychology interns.

Her past experience includes work as a behavioral consultant to schools, drawing from her experience as a school psychologist and teacher.  As a presenter for state and national professional counseling, academic and mental health organizations she has provided training for physicians, clinicians and educators.
